Programs

Playgroup (1-2, 2-3 Years Old)

Our curriculum is designed to offer pre kindergarten aged children an introduction to a structured learning environment before they proceed to a structured learning environment that is kindergarten.  Our playgroup program is designed to use different types of play to enhance children’s learning.

Children can develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally, and gain self-confidence required trying new experiences and engaging in new environments through play.

As children play, they will learn a set of skills such as social skills, creativity, hand-to-eye coordination, problem solving that can further enhance their imagination. It is argued that these skills are better learned through play rather than through flashcards or academic drills

Nursery (3-4 Years Old)

Young children enter preschool with a sense of wonder and a love of learning. We go by the knowledge that they have a big appetite for knowledge when they have learning experiences that are engaging and enjoyable. Positive experiences in which children can make choices and explore help them feel competent and confident.

Fernandez Pre-School Nursery Program provides an over-all approach for our teachers to support children’s learning through envi¬ronments and experiences that are:

    • Developmentally appropriate,
    • Reflective of thoughtful observation and intentional planning,
    • Individually and culturally meaningful, and
    • Inclusive of children with disabilities or other special needs.

The framework presents ways of setting up environments, encouraging and building upon children’s self-initiated play, selecting appropriate materials, and plan¬ning and implementing teacher-guided learning activities.

Fernandez Pre-School and Learning Center provides children in their Kindergarten days with a sound basis for their development as lifelong learners with the capacity to develop skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work. We aim to enhance children’s overall development – not rush them into academics at an earlier age.

Our programs allow more time for play based exploration and inquiry.  These types of hands-on experiences are responsible for most of the cognitive growth that occurs in Kindergarten children.  Through exploration and play both indoors and outdoors Kindergarten aged children can experience opportunities that foster their social-emotional learning, self-regulation and positive relationship with teachers and fellow students.  Furthermore, our enriched experience will facilitate conceptual, cognitive, and language growth that will foster further inquiry.
